Patrick Henner epitomizes excellence in the realm of athletic coaching, boasting a distinguished career marked by remarkable achievements and transformative impacts. With a Master's degree in Kinesiology from James Madison University and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Virginia Tech, Coach Henner's illustrious journey has seen him in prominent coaching roles at esteemed institutions across the nation. As the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach at the University of Georgia, Arizona State University, the University of Southern California, Georgetown and James Madison University, Coach Henner has orchestrated phenomenal successes, including NCAA championships, podium finishes, and numerous individual accolades. Moreover, as a High-Performance Consultant, he has counseled elite-level athletes and coaches on mental training strategies, leaving an indelible mark on the world of running and track & field.
Recently, Coach Henner showcased his coaching prowess by guiding Will Sumner to an NCAA Championship, where Sumner clocked an impressive 1:44.26 in the finals, a remarkable improvement of over 1.5 seconds in his personal best. Notably, Coach Henner's coaching portfolio extends beyond Sumner, including nurturing talents like Isaiah Jewett, a 2021 USA Olympian in the 800 meters, Vinny Mauri, an NCAA Finalist in the 5000 meters, and Dayton Carlson, who achieved a notable 1:46 time as a freshman at ASU, securing 6th place nationally.

His coaching journey began at Blacksburg High and Middle School, where his Middle School team remained undefeated, and both high school boys' and girls' cross country teams dominated the VHSL State Championships.
